Free Yourself Friday- Stress
It's Friday!!!! You know what this means! It's time to free ourselves from something that may be weighing us DOWN. STRESS. I get stressed by just typing the letters. We all stress and there are benefits to the good kind of stress and harm from the bad kind of stress. This Friday we are looking at the BAD stress. The worrying, trying to please everyone, not being comfortable in our own skin, fear, ripping and running, and always trying to figure out our next master plan.
About 3 months ago, I was going in for a major surgery and all I could think was that I was going to die on the operating table. I couldn't sleep for weeks leading up to the surgery. And I ALWAYS stress on pay day. Because I know the day after I get paid my bank account is going back to ZERO dollars, lol. It's like we have told ourselves if we are not figuring things out we are lazy, irresponsible, bad parents, etc. And that's just not so!
Stress is UNHEALTHY. There are scientific reports detailing chronic illness linked to prolonged stress- cancers, premature death, heart attacks, strokes, cardiovascular disease, gout, and the list goes on and on! Let's free ourselves from stress TODAY! Two ways I'm practicing being free from stress- Saying NO and being a SHEEP.
I know all my WOKE folks are saying "She's crazy! I ain't no sheep!" Don't be so woke that you end up dead prematurely lol. Being sheep like is good to practice as being believers in Jesus Christ. Sheep are totally reliant upon their shepherd. They don't think about where to find green pastures. They are lead. They don't worry about the waters being too violent and overtaking them and drowning. Because they are lead to the calm waters by their shepherd. When they are sick they don't worry about how they well get better. The shepherd anoints their head with oil. Look at all the ways we can rest in our Good Shepherds care.
And finally, say NO. Sometimes we feel so badly when we tell our children, boss, coworkers, homegirls, family members, spouses no. Well stop feeling bad! A no to someone is ok if that "no" is a "yes" to yourself! We cannot operate in a stressful place and expect to be able to give our bodies, minds, and spirits the rest it needs. It's okay to say NO. Can I borrow $100? NO. Can you watch Jr? No. Will you be able to work 70 hours this week? NO. Will you have the house cleaned for company tomorrow? Nope. You don't even have to follow up with the "why". Just say no. Remember saying yes to yourself, your wellness, your mental health, your peace and sanity is far more important than trying to spread yourself thin. Learn to say no!
Ok! If you don't use it you'll lose it! Practice makes perfect! be free today!
