Put away Preferences for the Promise
Updated: Mar 31, 2024
I Kings 17
Hey there, ladies! So, let me tell you about my recent adventure in online dating. Spoiler alert: it was an epic FAIL.
I mean, the whole concept seemed simple enough – share your preferences and swipe right or left if the other person's preferences match. But here's the kicker: the preferences on the app were as basic. We're talking gender, race, horoscope, smoking and drinking habits, and religion. That's it.
So there I was, swiping left until my thumb got a cramp because, let's be real, some of these guys looked like they could have been drinking their own urine. 🥴 And don't even get me started on the ones who actually picked me – I found myself staring at my screen like, "Really?! Is this what I've been reduced to?!"
After two weeks of this nonsense, I threw in the towel. I realized I was falling into the same old trap of judging people solely based on their looks, which is probably why my dating history reads like a comedy of errors. God was like, "Stop picking when your picker is off!"
Thank goodness for divine intervention! Just like the widow in 1 Kings 17, This woman trusted a prophet who was not from her country, did not have the same religion, and at the expense of being able to feed her child. She modeled that sometimes we need to look past our own preconceived notions, comfort, and the culture and trust that the man God sends our way will be exactly what we need, even if he's not what we expected. Because let's face it, ladies – who we choose to partner up with in this life is kind of a big deal. It's not just about our own happiness and needs, but also about the legacy we leave behind for our future mini-me's. God's perpetual promises are at stake here.
So yeah, the man God sends your way might not be your typical type. He might not be from your neck of the woods, talk like you talk, or have the same taste in food. But when push comes to shove, he'll know how to pray and bring life back into the things you thought were dead and buried.
Sometimes you've gotta do something you've never done to get something you've never seen. So let's ditch the superficial preferences and trust that God's got a plan that's way better than anything we could have imagined. 🙌

AMEN!!!! Our God is a living God and He’s always doing new things! The way He does it for one person may be different for the other…Thank you for being transparent and ALWAYS KEEPING IT 💯 in EVERYTHING you do!
